The monument to B. Khmelnitsky
The monument to Bogdan Khmelnitsky is a monument to Ukrainian Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky, the organizer and head of the struggle for liberation of the Ukrainian people in the middle of the XVII century (Khmelnytchyna) was established in Cherkassy in 1995.
The Monument to Ukrainian hetman Bogdan Khmelnitsky in Cherkassy was opened in October, 30 in 1995 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his birth. Located at the comer of Shevchenko Boulevard and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street, near the Palace of Culture "Friendship of Peoples", it completed the composition area of BohdanKhmelnytsky Square.
The authors of the monument are the culptors A. S. Shatalov, A. S. Fuzhenko and the architectors T.G.Dovzhenko, V.I. Dmytrenko. The sculpture of Khmelnytskyis made in Kyiv workshops of Art Fund of Ukraine.
The CherkasyMonument to BogdanKhmelnitsky is a bronze sculpture of 5 metersheigh which is set on a pedestal with a stylized processed granite blocks where"Hetman of Ukraine ZinoviyBogdan Khmelnitsky. 1595 - 1657" is written on.
On both sides of the pedestal there is a stele of granite blocks, in which eight slabs with inscriptions are mounted:

On both sides of the pedestal, made of granite blocks, two bronze sculptural compositions are set symbolizing the Cossacks’ victory led by Khmelnitsky on land and sea. Their basis are podium decorated with floral motifs. The first composition is about the Cossack gull among the stormy sea with tautened sail where there is a cross over the mast, here there is also Cossack weapon, jewellry and gem. Another composition includes Cossack cannons and balls, barrels with powder, weapons, two tulumbas and banners
