The Verhnyatsky
Local History Museum
The building of the Verhnyatsky Local History Museum was constructed as a village two-class specialized school in 1902.
The beginning of creation of the village public local history museum dated back to September 1987.
The enthusiastic group of the inhabitants of Verhnyachka as well as two scientists and designers took part in searching, collecting and designing historical resources. The council of the museum was formed and headed by the Hero of Social Labor F.H. Berehovyi.
In December 1989 the inauguration of the Verhnyatsky Local History Museum took place. Today it is a museum with 8 halls and 12 sections.
In the first hall called “introductory hall” we see the main historical events both of the village Verhnyachka and our region beginning from the IVth millennium till nowadays as well as general information and the map of the village.
In this hall we also learn about different publications containing the information on the Verhnyatsky museum and receiving the title “national” two years after its opening.
The four dioramas of the hall present the main periods showing the history of the Earth from its formation and birth of the first life within several million years.
The next hall is somewhat unusual. It looks like a real cave which shows the way of life of primitive people, language, writing and religion origin.
In the next hall we see the archaeological items found on our territory which belong to different cultures: Bilogrudivska, Trypilska, Yamnytska; the burial place of a leader of the tribe Yamnyky, located on the territory of the Verhnyachka research-selective station.
