Oleksandr Pushkin and Petro Chaikovsky Museum which is a part of Kamyansky state historical and cultural reserve, - the surprising space where visitors are shrouded at once by aura of creativity, gentle, acute lyricism. You are deeply inspired in such a space.
The literary-memorial museum has been placed for more than 70 years in the so-called " Green small house", a sight of architecture of XIX century. It belonged to the Davydovs manor and firstly it was devoted only to Oleksandr Pushkin, and later on to Petro Tchaikovsky. The diligence of generations of museum workers have created the atmosphere of dialogue with the beauty in small cosy rooms.
The Literary-memorial museum of Oleksandr Pushkin and Petro Chaikovsky, was founded in February, 1937. It was placed in one of the wings of the former Davydovs' manor, in the so-called Green small house constructed at the beginning of XIX cetury. This small house was visited by the outstanding heroes of the Patriotic war of 1812 Denys Davydov, Mykola Rayevsky. Mykhailo Orlov. The Decembrists held their meetings here. The peace of this small house was loved by Oleksandr Pushkin and later it became one of the favourite places to stay for Petro Chaikovsky. The museum exposition tells us about the work of Kamyansky headquarters of the Southern society headed by the owner of Kamyansky manor V. Davidov, about staying of Oleksandr Pushkin in Kamyanka. It was just the place where Pushkin wrote one of the masterpieces of the world lyrics " The clouds gaze thins slowly." and finished the poem "Prisoner of the Caucasus".
The section of the museum devoted to Petro Chaikovsky, tells us about an important role which Kamyanka played in the life of the composer. Petro Chaikovsky came to see his sister's family Olekandra Davidova over a period of 23 years. From all cities of the world which Chaikovsky visited, Kamynka, and connected with it the family of Davidov, is the most mentioned by him in his letters and diary. Right here he worked at the greatest part of his works (about 30).
Memorial exhibits of the Davidovs , P. Chaykovsky's personal piano, a lifetime portrait of the composer painted in Kamyanka, other interesting things are exhibited in the literary-memorial Oleksandr Pushkin and Petro Chaikovsky Museum. The family grand piano of the Davydovs which Petro Chaikovsky used to play, sounds to this day within the walls of this memorial house. Literary - musical events by candlelight have already become traditional. Both inhabitants and city visitors are fond of them.
