Historical Museum
The exposition of the Museum is located in 6 rooms, with its area of 320 square metres , which includes more than 2,000 exhibits (displays). Re-exposition of the museum was completed in 2006-2011. The exposition of the museum displays the history of Korsun-Shevchenkovo and the whole territory of Korsun in the context of Ukraine's history from ancient times up to the present.
The exhibition of Soviet postcards of 1940 - 1980 is displayed in the hall of the museum. The history of Korsunshchyna from the very beginning ofman’s self-settling it up to the end of the XVIII century is presented in the first room.
The valuable exhibits are the Cimmerian things, early Slavic jewellry, a polish gun, Poles’, Cossacks’ and Moscow shooters’armor and weapons.
In the second hall the exhibits contain the materials, that tell us about both the owners of the village headman (starostvo) and Korsunmanorat the of XVIII-the beginning of XIX centuries. (S. Poniatowsky, theLopuhins, the Lopuhin- Demidovs), and also about T.H. Shevchenko’s life and activity, the economic, social and cultural development of the region.
The diorama of “Korsun Battle” in 1648" is displayed in the third hall.
The materials about political and socio-economic development in the first half of the XX-th century are exhibited in the fourth hall. They include World War I, the Ukrainian revolution, industrialization, collectivization and famine (holodomor)in 1932 - 1933, destruction of churches, education and medicine.
The Valuable exhibits are S. Nechuy-Levitsky’swriting set, Russian soldier’s naval jacket who was the Emperor Nichola’sbodyguard , piano, made by K. Sukom, exclusive photos of the construction of Korsun’ HES, documents about famine (holodomor)
The fifth hall exhibits Korsun at the period of World War II, postwar reconstruction and industrial development, agriculture, medicine and culture in the 1950-2000.
