Museum room of harmonica
Opening of the unique museum room in Ukraine, devoted to the musical instrument “harmonica” took place in 2006. Premises (inside music school) were allotted for this initiative but it was no mere chance, because a musical instrument must be kept where it is understood and appreciated most of all.
At present the funds of the museum room number about 1000 exhibits: musical instruments, different items, photos, posters, textbooks, video cassettes and disks connected with spreading harmonica in Ukraine and outside its borders. There are 154 harmonicas in the museum. And such of them has its own rate and its own way to the heart of a listener. The oldest musical instrument is harmonica of Peter Nevskiy, 1890.
The display of the museum is also presented with front harmonicas. Taking into account the popularity of this musical instrument 12000 harmonicas were sent to the Army in the Field, according to the instruction #220 of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR at the beginning of the war in summer in order to raise fighting spirit among soldiers. And in autumn of the same year 60000 harmonicas were already sent to the front. Harmonica for soviet soldiers is firs of all, memory about the war.
